Make the base by combining flour and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Rub in cold butter using your fingertips until the mixture resembles sand.
Line a baking tray with parchment and press the mixture down. Spread evenly and ensure it is pressed down well.
Sprinkle pecans on top.
Make the caramel sauce by melting butter and brown sugar in a pan over a medium heat.
Let mixture boil for 1 minute while stirring.
Pour caramel sauce over the cookie mixture. Be careful not to burn yourself.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180° degrees Celsius for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and salt to taste.
Return to the oven for 1 minute to melt chocolate.
Remove from oven and spread melted chocolate with a spatula.
Cool for 30 minutes and cut into bite sized pieces and serve.
